Post-Doctoral Scholar Position in Nuclear RC Structural Testing and Modeling
at the University of Notre Dame


Limited Term Position

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to work on a two-year research project funded by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) at the University of Notre Dame. The project is entitled "Lapped Connections for Accelerated Modularized Construction of Safety-Related, Non-Containment Reinforced Concrete Nuclear Buildings" and is conducted in collaboration with the Notre Dame Center for Sustainable Energy and New Mexico State University. Key responsibilities of the post-doctoral research position include leading the experimental tasks involving the design, construction, and testing of modular nuclear RC beam and wall test specimens and accompanying numerical modeling/analysis tasks. The post-doctoral scholar will also publish technical articles in reputed journals and make presentations. The expectation is that the post-doc will commit to full-time work on the project throughout the two-year project duration.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in civil engineering with demonstrated high-quality research on concrete structures and large-scale laboratory structural testing, and the ability and motivation to participate in collaborative efforts with other researchers as well as industry professionals.
