The Role

Product Company Indiana is a part of the Atlas Copco Industrial Vacuum Division, with the intent to become the undisputed market leader in engineered pumps and systems with world-class delivery and customer responsiveness. The Engineering Department Manager is responsible for project execution within the design engineering group and making sure each member of the team is accomplishing what they are assigned to do, staying ahead of the timeline, and adapting to any changes in plans, using knowledge of design and engineering concepts for customized industrial rotating equipment.

As the Engineering Department Manager, you will oversee a team of 5+ project engineers with a predominant focus on mechanical engineering. This position will report to the Engineering Manager.

  • You will manage the team and improve operational efficiencies within engineering to ensure all Engineered to Order products meet customer's specifications

  • You will oversee the team's workload/activities, ensuring correct prioritization and delivery of milestones in a fast-paced and complex environment.

  • You will lead the technical evaluation of customer applications, mechanical, electrical, controls, and structural design aspects of product design.

  • You will interact directly with customers to prepare, change, and finalize engineering design project specifications.

  • You will consult with engineering, sales, management, and production to discuss design specifications and procedures.

  • You will conduct design-specific and technical analyses and proposals of customer needs and specifications.

  • You will provide the necessary leadership and mentoring of direct reports.

  • You will build a system of "Lean" development and improvement.

What we expect of you?

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering / Engineering Technology or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 - 6 years of experience in Engineering design

  • 1+ years of leadership experience

  • Experience with CAD, 3D, and Solid Works.

  • Knowledge of vacuum pump/vacuum systems or rotating equipment and design applications concepts.

  • Experienced in change management

  • Experience in managing design/project initiatives and associated support staff.

  • Experience in developing policy and procedures.
