The University of Notre Dame () is accepting applications for a Operator A.

Applications will be accepted until 03/10/2024.

This position must fulfill all the responsibilities of performing safe, efficient, reliable, and compliant operation of all equipment and systems in the Power Plant as well as systems externally located, remotely controlled from the Power Plant. The "A" Operator is required to carefully monitor, or secure any piece of equipment when required, either as part of routine operation or under emergency situations. This position required scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Additionally, the "A" Operator directs the "B/C" Operators assigned to the shift and is responsible for the security of the Power Plant


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • High School Graduation and two years of trade/technical school

  • Skills: Understand the theory and operation of refrigeration, power boilers, steam turbines, electric generators, pumps and associated auxiliary equipment and systems.
  • A thorough understanding of the dynamic interaction between various Power Plant systems.
  • The ability to maintain composure and make appropriate decisions under emergency conditions.
  • The ability to work with computer based programs and systems



Preferred Qualifications:
  • EPA Section 608- Universal Refrigerant License
  • Certification through National Association of Power Engineer's and/or a state's Class A Engineer's license (not available in Indiana) is preferred.
  • Indiana Water Certification Class WT-3/DSM
  • Further certifications to meet regulatory requirements.
