What you'll do

As the Electrical Engineer for (A Shyft Group Brand) based at our Fleet Vehicles & Services facility in , you will be accountable for partnering cross-functionally to develop electrical, electro-electro-mechanical systems and interfaces for Utilimaster .

Your primary focus will be communicating your technical vision and ideas concisely, utilizing both visual and verbal methods.

Additionally, the work you will accomplish as Electrical Engineer will be pivotal in the creation of vital manufacturing processes and will directly shape the future of how fleet vehicles are designed, built, and delivered. It's also worth mentioning that relocation assistance to the is available for non-local candidates.

You will also:

  • Conduct electrical engineering and investigate problems related to Utilimaster products in the areas of wire harnesses, electrical elements, and electro-mechanical interfaces and determine the root cause
  • Extract technical customer requirements from customers
  • Conduct design reviews and facilitate communications between departments
  • Translate technical requirements in partnership with manufacturing, quality, and sales
  • Deliver engineering solutions and revisions to other teams within The Shyft Group via component drawings, assembly and installation drawings, and Engineering Change Notices
  • Create and maintain design standards and guidelines
  • Represent Utilimaster's Engineering Team during customer site visits and pilot reviews
  • Provide design solutions that exceed customer expectations
  • Prepare design and technical reviews with OEM partners for system-level engineering issues
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, lean checklists, and documentation standards
  • Build validation plans that distinctly explain customer requirements
  • Study schematic and block diagrams and electrical components
  • Evaluate bench and vehicle log files for system issues

What you need to be successful
  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or technology preferred
  • Two or more (2+) years of electrical engineering expertise within a manufacturing setting
  • Experience with Wire Harness Technology required
  • Robust SOLIDWORKS skills
  • Knowledge of FMEA, Root-Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and 8D
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Familiarity with utilizing database management tools
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10-20% of the time domestically
  • Familiarity with FMVSS standards
