Job Summary

Must be able to work weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed, hours of operation may vary.

The Event Host will be responsible for monitoring and servicing special events and facility rental activities to insure the customers' needs and specifications are met prior to and on the day of the event in RJKCCC in South Bend, IN. This position will work closely with the Hospitality Manager to ensure exceptional customer service and ensure customer satisfaction.

  2. Keep current on all events that you will be hosting
  3. Work cooperatively with any Directors, Managers, Staff and off-site Vendors
  4. Communicate any and all aspects of the event to the Event Sales Manager
  5. Make sure that the facility is cleaned up and secure at the end of the event
  6. Room preparation
  7. Guest relations
  8. Itinerary management

  1. Specific Functions
  2. Act as liaison between RJKCCC and our clients and guests, communicating times, dates, schedules and requests as needed and to the proper personnel.
  3. Work with Hospitality Manager to ensure guest catering satisfaction.
  4. Ensure all event and facility details are reviewed prior to guest arrival for accuracy of the setup, and any special needs that were requested.
  5. Place table settings and any required decorations prior to guest arriving for events where such a service is purchased, professionally serve Banquet Functions, serving food, pouring beverages, handling special requests, and passing food and beverage when necessary.
  6. Assist the Hospitality Manager with facility tours to prospective clients and guests.
  7. Assist maintenance staff in setting up rooms for special events as needed.
  8. Supervise flow of all events, prior, during and after the rental.
  9. work to ensure guest satisfaction, notifying appropriate personnel about challenges and successes. Resolve any guest concerns in a prompt, professional manner.
  10. Setup and assist guests with basic audio/visual needs.
  11. Inventory and management of all equipment needed for each event.
  12. Assist Event Sales Manager in reconciling all costs, deposits and fees associated to the event.
  13. Ensure that a pre-event check list and post-event check list is completed before and after each program, including cleanup, equipment inventory, equipment condition, damage deposit and evaluation forms.
  14. Maintain confidences and comply with Safe from Harm guidelines.
  15. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients, respect of others' property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers and supervisors.

  • Qualifications:
  1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must be at least 18 years old.
  3. Successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.
  4. Must have or be willing to be trained on proper steps of service.
  5. Must have ability to work and relate well with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  6. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  7. Must be able to adjust to requests of RJKCCC guests with little notice.
  8. Must be highly organized and pay great attention to detail.
  9. Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  10. Must be knowledgeable of the facility and available rental items.

  2. Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs occasionally.
  3. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, stretch and climb.
  4. Must work in environmental conditions that include, but not limited to, wet and humid environments.
  5. Both indoor and outdoor work will be required in varying degrees of temperatures.
  6. Subject to modified/flexible work schedule including weekend, holiday and weekday evening work.
