GENERAL PURPOSE

This position will operate a dock truck that transports cargo to and from specified local destinations. Size of truck is more than three (3) tons.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Prepare, receive and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of goods to ensure timely service
• Assist in loading, securing and unloading cargo
• Maintain radio or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery or pick up instructions or to receive notice of changes in the schedule
• Maintain logs of travel and cargo according to federal and state regulations
• Responsible for vehicle maintenance and presentation
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform all job functions
• Responsible for ensuring proper inventory delivered and picked up
• Responsible for checking all inventory logs against delivered and picked up merchandise
• Must be licensed to operate a truck
• Must have clear driving record
• Responsible for daily inspections of vehicle
• Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written)
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Safe driver with knowledge of Twin Cities area
• Good people skills
• Basic math skills
• Ability to read and write English

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Class B license with airbrakes experience
  

Special Job Requirements:

• Must be available for long, varied work hours as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years of driving experience in a similar position
• No traffic violations in the last three years

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Regular shop assembly/distribution center environment
• Will require regular ground travel to other company facilities within local metropolitan area
