Job Description
Major Responsibilities:
  • Development of Inpatient Imaging Schedule on a daily basis
    • 1)Utilizing independent judgment.
    • 2)Interacts with technologists, PCC nursing staff, nursing units, EPD and/or office personnel according to the scheduling policies approved by the Department of Radiology.
    • 3)Seeks assistance as required from coordinator of scheduling and coordinators of Radiology modalities concerning unplanned requests for additional coverage for scheduling.
  • Maintenance of professional work environment
    • 1)Communicating with imaging coordinators, director and managers to facilitate the efficient utilization of imaging modalities on a daily basis.
  • Facilitator of daily imaging schedule
    • 1)Initiating change as necessary to optimize imaging utilization.
    • 2)Remaining attune to patient, physician, and nursing units needs.
    • 3)Obtaining pertinent patient information, through appropriate channels necessary for appropriate scheduling.
  • Responsible for optimal procedure utilization of imaging scheduling
    • 1)Planning and implementing procedure times.
    • 2)Predetermining appropriate availability of scanners, xray rooms, etc.
    • 3)Provide a completed schedule on the a.m. of that day of the schedule.
    • 4)Work to try and coordinate a patient's inpatient imaging procedure to enhance the patient experience and improve throughput here at ACMC.
  • Identifies and achieves resolution of scheduling problems
    • 1)Maintaining effective rapport and communication with all modalities regarding exams, procedure order and time, cancellations and substitutions, via phone or personal communication.
    • 2)Scheduler QC's every requested procedure for: * Accuracy * Medical necessity
    • 3)Scheduler is the point person when discrepancies need to be resolved.
    • 4)Ability to at a moments notice facilitate the expedition of an inpatient procedure due to a vacancy or opening in the schedule.


Education/Experience Required:
  • * High School Education or equivalent. * 2-3 years experience in hospital setting or similar position.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • * Typing 40-50 W.P.M. * P. C. computer experience.

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • * Excellent interpersonal skills. * Must relate well with technologists, radiologists, office personnel, nursing personnel and other departments. * Analytical and problem solving skills required to resolve scheduling conflicts. * Ability to sit for long periods of time. * Ability to meet deadlines. * Ability to function in a fast paced environment with established time constraints. * Ability to utilize a computer for data entry, reports, spreadsheets. * Ability to be flexible in hours to meet the needs of the unit.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
