Job Overview

The Corporate Asset Liability Manager is responsible for providing leadership in determining optimal strategies involving the corporate's asset /liability risk position, balance sheet mix based on profitability, risks and funding. This position is an integral part of the management team and will be expected to be proactive in determining, recommending, influencing and implementing tactics and strategies that enhance the value of the corporation to its shareholders and customers

This position is responsible for leading and managing the corporation's asset/liability management process, budgeting and funding.

Principal Accountabilities

Provide oversight and reporting of ALM, liquidity, investments and cash. Ensure key business drivers are accurately modeled. Oversee wholesale and deposit funding performance including liquidity and pricing. Conduct strategic planning and management of budgeting/expenses/associates. Responsible for managing the bank's stress testing program.

Represent the Bank to both internal and external customers in a courteous, professional manner in face-to-face, written and telephone communications. Accountable for adherence to compliance standards including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, as well as all Bank Policies and Procedures with the ability to exercise prudent judgment for solutions from unexpected situations that arise. Actively protect confidentiality of customer and account information. Demonstrate Horizon Bank's commitment to the communities we serve through involvement in local organizations and events.

Duties

  • Serve as a member of the Asset/Liability Committee (ALCO) and other assigned management governance committees.
  • Prepare financial reports; ensure complete and accurate financial and statistical records of the Bank.
  • Coordinate and prepare the company's financial planning, budgeting, and investment activities.
  • Oversees the preparation of activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Provide oversight and strategy for management of deposit pricing.
  • Use advanced data modeling, predictive modeling and analytical techniques to interpret key findings from company data and leverage these insights into initiatives that will support business outcomes.
  • Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics that support key business decisions.
  • Review financial details from past, present, and forecasted operations; identify development opportunities and improvements.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of reports and insights that analyze business functions and key operations and performance metrics.
  • Write, review, and distribute financial policy and procedure statements to ensure regulatory and policy compliance. Ensure policy and regulatory compliance in all areas of responsibility
  • Review operational procedures to obtain optimum efficiency and reduced costs.
  • Prepare and analyze annual corporate and department budgets and allocation of operating budgets.
  • Report suspicious transactions or unusual occurrences to supervisor.
  • Conduct and document periodic risk reviews and run reports as needed
  • Perform all work in compliance with established regulations, policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and instructions.
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information private and confidential.
  • Participate in ongoing skill, compliance, risk management and security training as required for the position and apply knowledge in daily tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field of study.
  • 3-5 years' experience in the Asset Liability Management area with a minimum of 3 years in banking.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft software applications. Experience with the FISERV core system is preferred. Must have hands-on experience in asset/liability management, including experience using sophisticated and creative approaches and methodologies.
  • Experience with funds transfer pricing, deposit pricing and loan or relationship profitability models and systems.
  • Excellent communication skills specifically in persuading and simplifying complex concepts/data and the ability to motivate and influence others through diplomacy and trust.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical computations using various business machines and/or computers.
  • Must have proficient typing and computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
